Hoyer horns are produced in the town of Markneukirchen, in the Vogtland region of eastern Germany. This area is part of historic Saxony, which is famous for developing and fostering the rich heritage of the horn. The craftsmen in the Hoyer factory draw on 250 years of brass instrument making tradition, while pursuing their art in an eco-friendly,
State-of-the-art facility.

The Hoyer team has reproduced the world's most successful horn designs while applying input from artists and musicians, but has re-engineered and improved their acoustical properties to provide optimum performance.

Heritage Model 7801/7802

The “Heritage” model horns pay tribute to the warm, dark German sound popularized by Anton Horner of the Philadelphia Orchestra in the early 1900s. As symphony orchestras matured over the past century, this sound became the American ideal.

Developed in close cooperation with eminent hornists Vince DeRosa and Myron Bloom  (Cleveland Orchestra), the 7800 model horns provide the quintessential American horn sound. The 7800 series horns are handmade by Hoyer’s top craftsmen, and factory “pre-aged” to emulate the legendary Kruspe Horner model and the vintage Elkhart Conn 8Ds.

Kruspe Model 5801PMAL

Kruspe Model 5801PMAL
F/Bb double horn
Bore = 11,9mm (0.468'')
Bell diameter = 310mm (12.205'')
Medium throated bell
Yellow brass construction
Mechanical levers

This Kruspe model horn “bridges the gap” between the richness of the Heritage horns and the clarity of the Geyer style. The yellow brass bell provides warmth at low dynamics, and the power to project at “ff ”. The PMAL is an excellent choice for the Conn 28D enthusiast. The excellent projection of this model is largely due to the acoustical efficiency generated by the medium bell throat.

Price as shown: $4,384.00,

Hoyer 5801CK and 5802CK

The success of the new Hoyer products is owed to Gerhard Meinl – president of JA Musik, and design engineer Ferdinand Kleinschmidt. Herr Kleinschmidt is responsible for the acoustical design of each brasswind model produced in the Markneukirchen factory. Using computer-assisted analysis, he has managed to balance nobility of sound with excellent response, intonation and evenness throughout the range.
