Sellmansberger Imperial Tuba Mouthpiece

The Imperial mouthpiece underpart was designed with the achieved intention of offering a true "Eb tuba" mouthpiece for today's array of excellent large Eb tubas. This mouthpiece offers good color (in contrast to typical contrabass mouthpiece "muffling") without blatancy when used in conjunction with large Eb tubas. Moreover, this is a medium-size mouthpiece well-matched to a medium-size instrument. Other recommended uses for the Imperial mouthpiece include offering more of an "ensemble" sonority to F tuba resonance, and offering more of a "solo" or "quintet" type of resonance to contrabass tubas. Just as with the Solo and Symphony models, all Sellmansberger rims fit the Imperial underparts. The Sellmansberger signature "reverse taper" throat (for quick, accurate low range response) is incorporated into the Imperial underpart, just as with the Solo and Symphony underparts. The Imperial is offered with a "standard" shank as well as with the traditional "British" (smaller) shank.
